West Side Trail Exhibit on Display

The West Side Trail is a widely used and enjoyed local recreation area located approximately one mile northeast from Tuolumne off Buchanan Road. Recently, the Bureau of Land Management spearheaded a project to install interpretative kiosks and new signs along the West Side Trail to enrich the overall experience. Faculty member Kath Christensen and several Columbia College students played a key role in creating and implementing these new kiosks and signs. An exhibit of the project that includes reproductions of the kiosks and signs as well as project memorabilia and photos of the trail itself debuted in the Manzanita Rotunda on October 17. The exhibit, funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation, highlights the extensive role that Columbia students held in creating these new signs and kiosks for one of our most treasured community resources.
